Purpose Statement

  • To derive risk insights and intelligence through data and analytics, and provide support to the Business Continuity and Risk Practitioner through:
    • Maintaining an accurate and complete Group Operational Risk Loss Database to enable reporting on operational risk losses both internally and to the relevant Regulators.
    • Understanding the principles and processes for gathering and classifying operational risk losses in the business.
    • Incorporating external Operational Risk Loss events into the existing Operational Risk Loss Database.
    • Enabling the creation and monitoring of appropriate Key Risk Indicators.
    • Driving data quality and automation initiatives relating to Operational Risk.



  • At least 2-3 years’ experience in data analysis in a Risk management environment


  • 3+ years’ experience in data analysis, in a Risk management environment
  • Experience in an analytical capacity within the financial services / banking industry
  • Previous experience in Visual Basic and SQL or SAS would be advantageous

Qualifications (Minimum)

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Statistics

Qualifications (Ideal or Preferred)

  • A relevant post-graduate qualification in Finance or Statistics




  • Risk and control knowledge
  • Understanding of key business processes and functions and an understanding of key risks in these areas
  • Data analytics and data visualisation tools and techniques.


  • Mature understanding of enterprise risk management in the banking industry
