Purpose Statement

  • The main purpose of this position is the maintenance and execution of a Data Governance framework, policies and standards, as well as Data Management comprising Metadata, Data Quality and Security & Protection management. A Data Governance Analyst specialises in governing the information flow for the organization, including the quality, integrity, efficiency and availability of data.

Qualifications (Minimum)

  • Grade 12 National Certificate / Vocational
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology or Data Management

Experience

  • 3+ years data governance or similar level analysis experience
  • Practical experience with data governance, data quality, metadata management tools software/programs
  • Developing and maintaining corporate policies and standards
  • Banking environment and large-scale data experience
  • Data modelling experience
  • Agile principles and methodology

 

Knowledge

  • Solid understanding of databases and data structures
  • Exposure to query/database language
  • IT systems development processes
  • Business analysis and design
  • Standards and governance
  • Familiar with regulatory requirements such as POPIA, GDPR and PCI DSS
