Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage of subordinates which will include training, mentoring and performance management

Management of the entire payroll process & department

Management and submission of SARS statutory reports

Manage the necessary controls/measures to ensure that the companies payroll runs according to policies and procedures

Manage the implementation and maintenance of payroll parameters to ensure compliance with payroll-relevant legislation

Review, investigate and resolve irregularities identified on exception reports

Review and approve payroll transactions & reconciliations before final release run             

Manage and signing off all required payroll reports

Manage all statutory reporting

Managing and maintain all relevant policies

Supporting role with Groups IR & Benefits Manager regarding Pension fund, Provident fund and Medical Aid administration

Chair monthly remuneration and benefits meeting between Payroll and HR

Salary benchmarking in coordination with HR Divisional Managers

Close working relationship with HR Executive, HR Divisional Managers and Financial Managers/Accountants of various entities

Managing and maintaining policies, procedures and programs aligned with the organization’s overall strategic objectives and HR vision

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Relevant Honors Degree (BComm Financial Management or BComm HR Management)

Sound financial and accounting knowledge and experience

More than 5 years working experience in a Payroll Division within a large organization (>2000),

Previous experience as a Manager within a Payroll Division

Excellent knowledge and experience on VIP People Sage 300

Sound knowledge of Income tax Act, UIF, SDL, BCEA, and relevant legislation

SARS rules and regulations   

Calculation of income taxes and benefits

Pension fund, provident fund and group life rules and regulations

Medical Aid scheme knowledge         

Designs the set of different compensation and benefits policies.

Designs the basic compensation structures in the organization, aligned with the corporate culture and the corporate values.

Advanced level MS Office user - compulsory

Payroll systems and processes
