Two men convicted of the murder of Matlhomola Mosweu have been sentenced to an effective 18 and 23-years in prison

Two men convicted of the murder of Matlhomola Mosweu have been sentenced to an effective 18 and 23-years in prison in the North West High Court.

Judge Ronnie Hendricks has sentenced Pieter Dooreward to an effective 15-years imprisonment for murder, three-years for kidnapping, two-years for intimidation, one-year for theft and two years- for pointing of a firearm.

Philip Schutte will serve 20-years for murder, three-years for kidnapping, two-years for intimidation, one-year for theft and two-years for pointing a firearm.

The men pushed the 16-year-old out of their moving bakkie after they allegedly caught him stealing sunflowers at their employer’s farm.

Mosweu died in hospital due to the head and neck injuries he sustained during the fall.
